These large sculptures are hand built with clay slabs. They are fired to cone 06. The surface decoration is a very fine particle clay slip called terra sigillata and then some parts are are glazed.
In 1992 I began working with clay. My education includes: Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, Red Deer College-Summer series and the University of Alberta.
I always read a great deal and and I am constantly learning and testing clay and glaze materials. I enjoy pushing the boundaries of ceramic arts. The glazes that you see on the sculptures and teapots are mostly my own creation.
I have had many gallery shows and have sold my work commercially across Canada. In 2002 I began making custom hand made tiles and I also began teaching artist in residence programs with funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts-Artist in Education program.
